Nestlé USA is committed to enhancing the quality of life and contributing to a healthier future. As a manufacturer of pet care, bottled water, frozen meals, and infant nutrition, their operation is composed of seven operating companies: Nestlé USA, Nestlé Waters North America, Nestlé Purina, Gerber, Nestlé Health Science, Nestlé Professional, and Nespresso. Nestlé USA has more than 200 locations in 34 states, including 68 manufacturing facilities with more than 36,000 employees across the United States.

The Challenge

Nestlé is responsible for maintaining millions of ice cream freezers leased to food providers such as gas stations, grocery stores, and other venues. When a store agrees to lease a freezer, the owner receives a payment discount on the condition that they place the freezer at the store’s front door. To ensure that Nestlé is gaining the promotion from freezers being in the right part of the store, field workers would visit each store to log the freezer’s location and condition. If a freezer needed to be replaced or repaired during the site visit, the field technician would report it to the warehouse and request a replacement or schedule a return with service parts.

This lack of asset visibility left the responsibility for reporting accuracy with hundreds of field representatives. Personnel was responsible for monitoring their assigned locations, equipment, and maintenance schedules. On top of the cost of potential reporting inaccuracies, freezer breakdowns were increasing, as was the cost of ownership; there was limited opportunity for practical preventive maintenance. With this lack of operational efficiency, setting and reaching operational goals was difficult.

The Solution

Nestlé looked to Apptricity for total asset visibility, setting up a solution with the Apptricity Enterprise Asset Management software that allowed them to:
– import all their assets, locations, and personnel
– integrate with Nestlé’s legacy SAP system
– implement a solution that helped a global company achieve core goals

Through a straightforward multi-phase rollout, our enterprise asset management system allowed Nestlé to scale on their own time, adding more data each phase, all while having the confidence that the software could handle the high quantity of information without sacrificing user experience.

Availability to Users Everywhere

By providing Nestlé with a fully functional web and mobile application, users can now utilize the application that best fits their needs. Both web and mobile interfaces have multi-language support and are compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows systems. The system works both online and offline, allowing the field service team to use it in areas with poor connections.

Dependability for a Global Company

Smooth implementation and our top-rated support provided the reliability that Nestlé needed during and after development. We offered both a SaaS and on-site solution with the highest security certifications, including single-tenant servers (which are standard Apptricity features). This security level helped Nestlé, the world’s largest food and beverage company, feel confident in their solution.

Visibility Everywhere and in Real-Time

The Apptricity solution gives Nestlé visibility into warehouse inventory and creates work orders for replacement materials. Nestlé has complete visibility of each customer’s assets and information, including condition, location, and repair needs. This feature makes the service team more efficient and reduces the associated costs because the team knows the locations that need service and what supplies or equipment are required Nestlé all thanks to real-time access to data.
